Christian Education
We hope to offer our parishioners the opportunity for Christian Education throughout the year with a range of creative content.
At St. Michael’s, we hope to offer our parishioners the opportunity for Christian Education throughout the year with a range of creative content. The goal is to invite us into self-discovery through speakers, bible studies, book studies, and dialogue in order to engage in new ways to encounter God. We believe that active faith means creating new possibilities by being unafraid to challenge ourselves and take risks.
Recently, we encountered God through a two-part round table series led by a guest speaker on Creation Care and our response and challenge to live within God’s intention as responsible citizens on this earth. We also offered two catechism classes for adults of all ages who wish to reconfirm their baptismal vows. All these learning opportunities allow our parishioners to discover the foundations of their faith and the teachings of the Episcopal Church.
Along with these courses offered as a group, we encourage our congregation to utilize independent studies through the vast array of educational opportunities in the greater faith community. We have promoted the coursework of “Jesus-Centered Way of Love,” offered by Forward Day by Day using Bishop Michael Curry’s seven practices; and “Self-Compassion and the Election Cycle,” taught by Professors Frank Rogers and Elizabeth J. Keller from Claremont School of Theology. During our Thanksgiving season, we encourage our parishioners to participate in the South Bay Interfaith Service of Thanksgiving, allowing all who have different theological perspectives to come together in peace and love.
Join us at St. Michael’s for future learning opportunities, because we believe that the richer our Christian education is, the stronger our church will become.
