Outreach & Inreach Ministries
We recognize our service to one another, our community, and the world
as fundamental to our life in Christ.
We are called to service in God's love.
The Invisible String is a ministry of and from the heart. For those in our parish community who are separated from us long term or short term, this ministry surrounds them with our prayers and our love, letting them know that they remain a valued and important member of our church family. In addition to daily prayer for those who are away, “stringers” also encourage them with intentional reminders of their connection to their home church—these reminders can be cards, emails or other reminders. Maryjane Fitzpatrick heads up this ministry—text or call 513.805.8495
to add a name to the list or become a “stringer.”
The Community Alliance to Support and Empower (C.A.S.E.) is a community outreach to our neighbors in El Segundo. We offer and bless non-perishable foods and household supplies on the third Sunday of each month to support this ministry.
St. Michael's serves as a support church for Family Promise, an interfaith network in the effort to combat family homelessness. Through this organization and in partnership with El Segundo Methodist Church, we help provide housing, nutritious meals, and the hospitality of a loving community to homeless families for a week four times a year. A network of churches fills out this support 52 weeks a year.
Episcopal Relief and Development
St. Michael's contributes to the disaster relief and development ministries through regular donations to this national Episcopal Church relief agency.
Mychal's Learning Place Garden
Our gardening volunteers work with students at Mychal's Learning Place to plant and tend a seasonal garden. The crop may include vegetables, flowers and gourds - depending on the season. New volunteers are always welcome!
Rise Against Hunger
Once a year we participate with El Segundo Methodist Church in a Rise Against Hunger Experience event. This fun and educational experience allows us to lend a hand to people in critical need across the globe. It's fun for all ages (5 and up) and meaningful work.
